We have teamed up with British Backcountry to offer members a Ski Touring Journey Day. The days are an opportunity to join a small group and discover new terrain while covering ski touring skills along the way. We tailor the day to the needs of the group and will be in charge of the safety of the group and navigation, so you can relax and enjoy the tour. The key touring and mountain skills are covered while on the move.

Cost £67 per person + PayPal booking fee (£2.31) This includes hire of ski touring equipment.
Group Size: 1:6, maximum 6 per group.
Location: To be confirmed dependent on conditions, eg Cairngorm, Drumochter

Equipment: You will need to bring your own ski boots (any will do), a rucksack big enough to carry an avalanche shovel, probe, skins, your spare clothing, your packed lunch and water. The British Backcountry team have full ski touring kit.

Capability: You must be able to confidently ski a red run and have a level of fitness to undertake the up hill ascent using touring skis and skins.

Restrictions: No under 16’s and children between 16 – 18 may attend if accompanied by a parent/guardian.

COVID: Scottish Government guidelines and restrictions in place at the time of the event must be adhered to and our COVID

To measure your head, take a soft measuring tape and wrap it around your head about 1 inch above your eyebrows and ears. For example, if you measure the circumference of your head and it is 56 cm, you will wear a 56 cm helmet or Medium (55-58cm) depending on the helmet’s size scale.
Don’t have a soft tape measure? Take a piece of wool/string and wrap it around your head and then measure the string.
