Instructor

My name is Fin McDonald and although I have been skiing since leather boots and wooden skis, I have only very recently become an instructor (Basi 1). (Thanks to Arbroath Ski Club)

I want to help others learn “the ways of the force” (hahaha) and to enjoy skiing as much as I do. Oh, and to have a laugh while doing it.

Hope to see you on the slope ⛷

I became a member of the club in 2018 when I was given the opportunity to do my BASI level 1 and become a ski instructor. I have loved skiing since I was little and learnt to ski through a mixture of weekends with my dad at cairngorm and fantastic holidays abroad with family. I have many favourite resorts but a blue sky day at Glenshee is definitely up there.

I joined the club back in 2011 along with my younger brother and mum who are all now instructors within the club also.

Being an instructor is one of the most rewarding opportunities I have ever had and I love teaching kids especially! Watching them advance and grow into little (safe) speed demons is a great feeling.

Hi, my name is Chris. My first love of snowsports is snowboarding but I am slowly being converted to skiing thanks to the Club and the ski academy program.

I am a secondary school teacher through in Dundee and if I am not organising ski trips for the kids I’m planning when I can next get out to Austria for a holiday.

Maggie learnt to ski at Condor when she was about 9 years old through lessons with Colliston Primary School. She quickly developed the skiing bug and thanks to her mum was allowed to develop skiing further. The family joined ASC and Maggie was a member until she left for University in Edinburgh in 2001. Just before she left though she sat her Artificial Ski Slope Instructors qualification through the club.

Maggie started teaching people to ski at Midlothian Snowsport Centre (Hillend) and worked there for 10 years. After finishing her degree Maggie spent a season working with Skivolution in Courchevel as a chalet chef and at the end of the season passed her BASI Level 2. Maggie has also spent time teaching at Cairngorm.

Joe Meldrum (Safeguarding & Child Protection)

Safeguarding and Wellbeing Coordinator

Joe started at the club as a fresh faced 7 year old thanks to Sheila Beattie being his PE teacher at St Vigeans and wanted to enhance his skills. Joe loved the Sunday morning bus rides up to the 'Shee and support from Dave and Sheila, though stopped at 10 years old to focus on football. Joe returned to the club after a long absence to complete his instructor training, inspired by Mrs Beattie he wanted to give young people the same opportunity he got from his PE teacher in developing one of his favourite skills and experiences.
